---We met sophomore year in the dorms and have been jamming ever since... it's senior year and we wanted to go out with a bang so we're going to be recording a lot of stuff in the near future and playing at bars..

it's hard to describe our genre, but some of our influences are: lenny kravitz, stevie wonder, the roots, john mayer, john legend, wilderness crew, outkast, ratatat, beyonce, t.i., cee-lo, rusko... the list goes on, but you can tell from that list we play a whole mashup of genres. I think we've got something that a lot of other bands dont have in that respect, and hopefully it will take us far!

I Have An Obsession With Skrillex

Seriously though, I like a lot of "dubstep" artists, but I just seem to never get enough of Skrillex. I'm really excited for him to release his album, which was supposed to come out a while ago but when some wanker took his laptops and harddrives from his hotel room in Milan it got set back a little, actually to be honest it got set back a lot. There are constantly new songs coming out by him, or remixes of old songs, sick.

For those that don't know, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people dont actually know this, Skrillex didn't just pop up out of nowhere on one of Deadmau5' tours. He used to be the lead singer of one of my favorite bands in High School, From First To Last. He left FFTL with vocal problems so he started doing less screaming and more just natural singing but started tossing some experimental beats in there, this was under his actual name, Sonny Moore. Linkin Park x Adele

Impressive, easily my favorite cover of this song, and there are tons of covers, how could there not be, this song is extremely powerful. I also never understood why it became cool to not like Linkin Park. There was a decent amount of time where people just stopped liking LP just cause other people were. Never understood that, they've been a favorite of mine since 5th grade and it will always be that way.

Misérable

That's just impressive. The video gripped me, the song entranced me. Didn't know who Dave was when I saw this so I naturally looked him up. I quote directly from his website, "Everything you hear on the singer/songwriter’s self-produced albums – acoustic and electric guitars, piano, drums, bass, synthesized horns and string parts – is Dave. Rarely does a musician have the ability and talent to synchronize each aspect of his tracks to the exact specifications of his creative vision." Goodbye England's Rose

Just coming back from England I had to post about Princess Diana, one of the most beautiful people to ever walk on this planet. Just an all around stunning and illuminating woman. She had such a profound affect on so many people. When I look back at all the news reports I get shivers up my spine, so here are some songs that give me the chills, good and sketchy.

I could listen to this song over and over again. It doesn't mean Marilyn Manroe to me, it means Princess Diana, and it always will.

Alternative Hip-Hop

Title pretty much says it. Hip-Hop songs that have been covered by an alternative band/artist, which lets be honest, almost anything can be described as alternative. Regardless I'm a huge fan of the first two and warming up to the third one, let me know what you think.

Jack's Mannequin

Just got back from a Jack's Mannequin concert down on the docks in Boston. I must say I was very impressed. Andrew McMahon was jumping on and off his piano, getting the crowd involved during every song and in between awesome awesome concert. Here is my favorite song from them.

Andrew McMahon, frontman for Jack's Mannequin and former frontman for Something Corporate, has really been though rough times. The name for Jack's Mannequin cames from younger brother of a friend of McMahons who was diagnosed and a form of childhood leukemia. In 2005 he was Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Abbreviated ALL and my own grandfather passed away from ALL). McManons fight with ALL took several years but he has made a full recovery. With songs like "Swim" and "Dear Jack" you get a glimpse into what he was dealing with and what he was thinking. Dear Jack is written for the original Jack and Swim is all about surviving even when hope is dwindling. Full of inspired lyrics and staggering amounts of talent on the keys, Jack's Mannequin is one of my favorite bands. On October 4th they'll be releasing their new album, People and Things, so be sure to check it out.
